Thrive Conservation

Thrive Conservation is an Indonesia-based charity with education at the heart of its mission. Indonesia is home to the Coral Triangle, the most biodiverse reef system on Earth. Beyond its reefs, the country also supports an extraordinary range of ecosystems, including mangroves, seagrass meadows, estuarine habitats, peat swamps, and rainforests—all of which sustain thousands of species.

Indonesia’s vast geography, made up of hundreds of remote islands, presents unique challenges. Many of these communities are difficult to access, and each faces its own distinct socioeconomic pressures while relying heavily on the surrounding natural environment for survival.

Thrive Conservation recognizes the urgent need for conservation initiatives across Indonesia, while also identifying a critical gap in environmental education and access to sustainable livelihood opportunities within these communities. People living closest to these fragile ecosystems are often those with the fewest resources to protect them.

In response, Thrive works directly with remote communities through education programs they support young Indonesians to address overlooked environmental issues on land and in the ocean. These young leaders work together with local communities and decision-makers to solve conservation problems. By empowering people with knowledge, skills, and sustainable opportunities, Thrive seeks to bridge the divide between human survival and environmental degradation.

Through this human-centred approach, Thrive Conservation envisions an Indonesia where people and nature coexist in balance—both thriving, together.
